The Water Industry Commission for Scotland (WICS) promote the interests of water and sewerage customers in Scotland by making sure that they receive a high-quality service and value for money by:

  • Setting prices
  • Monitoring Scottish Water’s performance
  • Facilitating competition in the water industry

The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) aims to provide an efficient and integrated environmental protection system for Scotland which will both improve the environment and contribute to the Scottish Ministers’ goal of sustainable development. SEPA monitors Scottish Water’s discharges to ensure they meet environmental standards.

The Drinking Water Quality Regulator (DWQR) is responsible for enforcing The Water Supply (Water Quality)(Scotland) Regulations independently of Ministers.

Waterwatch Scotland is the national complaints handling body for all water customers. They are also the consumer representation body for the water industry in Scotland.
